How long does it take to muck out? 10 time saving tips!

When it comes to yard duties it seems like some people can ride 15, muck out 10 all in less than 7 minutes and before 5am! 😉 For mere mortals like myself though it takes a little longer to get through the morning stables routine (and multiple caffeine injections), but how long exactly? I’ve never really thought about how long it takes to get the horses sorted before going to work, I just leave a generous amount of time. So…..I timed myself! Winter is here…. #gameofpones #Winterstables #muckingout #horseygirl #wheelbarrow #fork #shovel #earlyalarm #horsesofinstagram A post shared by Gift Horse…

WIN a personalised jacket from Harry Hall.

One lucky bod is going to win a personalised Casares Softshell jacket from Harry Hall, and it could be you! Simply enter the competition below. [contestfriend contest=”5011″] Being slightly coat obsessive when this jacket arrived in the post I was more than a little excited. For starters I LOVE the colour, for years everything horsey came in navy, and it was so boring but now it seems grey is here to stay. I also splashed out on a pair of super smart grey breeches in the summer, and this jacket looks great with them. My matchy matchy game is strong,…

The Rundle Cup aka waving my mallet about in the hope of hitting something!

Back in July 2016 I took part in a charity polo match for The Inspire Foundation and it was quite frankly a bl**dy brilliant day from start to finish! If you’re wondering why it has taken me so long to blog about it, it’s because I forgot to click “publish” (serious blonde moment!!!) Bad blogger! Slap on wrist! So the day started with us poling up to pitch our gazebo and complete the most essential activity of the day getting the picnic ready and champers on ice! I was repping for the eventers in my carefully chosen hosiery!;) Repping for the…

Bolly bosses it at Tweseldown ODE despite “The Rusty Granny”!

10 hours, 2 bits of toast, and several buckets of water later and we have completed our first ODE of the season! yay! After the disappointment of not going XC at our last ODE I entered Tweseldown ODE as I know the sandy soil is always good and with a little rain a few days before the ground was on point. Dressage warm up was a bit of a stress as my hat couldn’t be tagged due to the inside safety spec being unreadable (sweaty hair will do that apparently!) so in full comp gear and 25 degrees I ran…

Protexin Gut Lix Review & Prize Giveaway

protexin gut lix

Roll up, roll up I’ve got another great competition for you!!! My sponsor Protexin have given me 5 probiotic starter kits to giveaway to 5 lucky GHE readers. [contestfriend contest=”4960″] I’ve had my horses on Protexin products for about…9 years on and off. Generally flipping between the Gut Balancer and Acid Ease products depending on the horse and situation. Their Quick Fix paste has also been a grooming kit essential for me and I often give Dustry some after plaiting and before loading and then again on arrival at a comp to settle his stomach and nerves. So if you’d…

Rabson Manor ODE – Two 3rds BRILLIANT!

It seems to me that if I’m at risk of frost bite or heat stroke then it can mean only one thing….I’m competing that day! Now I’m not just doing that typical British thing of bemoaning the weather, it really was an absolute SCORCHER, and the prospect of slipping on a tweed jacket was making me want to weep. Off we set, cool box, sun cream, isotonic drinks and sunglasses in hand to Swindon Riding Club’s ODE at Rabson Manor. This was Bolly and I’s first ODE together back in October (refresh your memory here if you like) and so…

Combining training & practise pays off for 2nd!

Someone pinch me, I think it all might be a dream! Bolly is quite possibly the most perfect little “goody 4 hooves” to ever grace this planet, and I am his No 1 Super Fan. He’s been part of the family for almost 2 years now but due to moving house, Dustry’s op, fitness levels, instructor changes and numerous saddle issues I feel like we’ve only just recently got all our ducks in a row and been able to train, practice and compete feeling like things are on the right track and that linear progress is possible. Mummy Groom has…

WIN Equestrian Jewellery – Elvira silver polo mallet ring.

Being an avid Instagrammer (I’m here if you want to follow my GHE Insta) I like the double tap action and can waste hours scrolling for inspo and entertainment. During one of these sessions I discovered Elvira jewellery and started stalking their account, I got weeks deep on their profile and was loving what I found. This polo mallet ring really caught my eye. Horsey girls’ hands are usually blistered, cracked, sporting a chipped mani, and typically smelling of saddle soap or fly spray so every now and again I think they deserve a treat! (that’s my excuse for buying…

Badminton 2017 – Shopping, Scoffing & Jaw Dropping!

Wednesday Badminton is getting busy! It seems that people have cottoned on to the fact that the BE90/100 competition days provide all the same shopping opportunities minus the huge crowds and as such it seemed decidedly busier this year compared to last. With no particular shopping list except ‘lunch’ in mind we set off moseying round the stalls, with our usual plan of shop – lunch – watch some xc – more shopping – maybe a sweet treat – home. Typically the first stall we came across was brilliant (so we did the browse-and-make-a-mental-note-to-return-later-stall-sweep walk) Will Bees Bespoke. I love it,…

Cross country cobwebs blown away & dressage breakthroughs

Nothing gives me that buzz like going XC, it’s simply THE best fun! Finally after more saddle issues (when do they ever end???) Bolly now has a jump saddle that fits and is comfortable for him and me and so we booked into a XC schooling clinic with my old chum Stephen Way. I’ve known Steve for years and his lessons are always a really good laugh, especially when I needed him to help me into my extremely tight back protector, you can imagine the scene! Sweet baby angel horse Mega XC schooling today #tweseldown #xc #eventing #horsesofinstagram #horses #equine…
