Being slightly coat obsessive when this jacket arrived in the post I was more than a little excited. For starters I LOVE the colour, for years everything horsey came in navy, and it was so boring but now it seems grey is here to stay. I also splashed out on a pair of super smart grey breeches in the summer, and this jacket looks great with them. My matchy matchy game is strong, and that always makes me happy! (I know what you’re thinking, and you’d be right 😉 #allthegearnoidea)
Because it’s a purpose designed riding jacket it has all those nifty little features specifically for life in the saddle. Stretchy thumb hole sleeve thingys (official term) to keep the draft out. Vented back skirt zips to allow for the back of the saddle, and a two way front zip so that you can open the bottom zip a little when riding so that the jacket doesn’t ride up. It’s light, waterproof, nicely fitted and surprisingly warm thanks to its micro fleece lining.
For those who like a little personalisation you can add your initials, your team name, your horse’s name, anything you like to make your jacket unique. I like the idea of having my initials embroidered on the front because I love a monogram. You can choose from the front breast pocket area, back, or either arm for your custom embroidery and select from a range of fonts and colours. The personalisation is free and the jacket normally costs £90 but it could cost just £46.15 if you are a One Club member!
The back of my jacket is embroidered with the Harry Hall One Club logo. What’s the One Club?….well I’ll tell you…
Harry Hall isn’t just one brand it incorporates loads of other horsey brands you will probably have heard of such as Caldene, Masta, Tottie and Cottage Craft to name a few. The One Club is their loyalty scheme which gives members 30% off all their brands all year!
As a One Club member you also get special sale prices (an extra 30% off the already reduced sale price!!) £10 million pounds worth of public liability insurance and £10 thousand pounds worth of personal accident cover.
Individual One Club membership is £40 per year, and you can pay in one go or monthly (£3.33 a month). If it makes more sense to get family membership (this includes 4 family members and three horses) that’s £95 per year (£7.91 a month)
This is a great idea if you regularly buy Masta rugs and tack for your horse and if you fancy some new Caldene, Tottie or Harry Hall gear for yourself! The two insurance policies are a useful addition too. Public Liability insurance covers claims brought against you by a 3rd party, so if your horse happens to damage a car or another person’s property you are covered to deal with a claim of up to £10 million pounds.
Personal Accident cover is great if you compete at unaffiliated competitions as it will cover any accidents you have (here’s hoping you don’t have any!) whilst competing in local dressage, and jumping comps etc up to the value of £10,000. Both of these policies are provided by SEIB so you can rest assured it’s a trusted insurance provider supplying the cover.
I had a look at the Harry Hall site and a few things caught my eye, so I thought I’d work out the savings if I joined the One Club….
I’m a big fan of therapeutic rugs and saddle cloths and both Dustry and Bolly have Back On Track rugs so I was excited to see that Masta have brought out their own version of infrared therapy rug.
Their Protechmasta Rug uses the same ceramic fibre technology in the material to reflect the horse’s own body heat back onto the body which promotes healing and increases blood flow. Some infrared products for me are on my Christmas list this year so hurry up Masta and bring out some rider products, please!? One Club price for this rug is £94.50 and non member price is £135. That’s a £40.50 saving, making my One Club membership value for money in one purchase! Also the Back on Track equivalent rug is about £170 so this is a real bargain!
The other thing I spied were these Caldene Buckland boots. I love a good yard boot and these really appealed to me because of their neatly shaped toe. They are less clumpy and welly-like than most country boots and I like that look because they look like a good cross over boot to ride and walk in. One Club price is £154, non members pay £220, that a saving of £66!!
Horse gear and equestrian stuff in general is expensive so the One Club membership can help you save big chunks on high ticket items such as rugs, footwear and competition clothing throughout the year, and when they have a sale on things get ridiculously affordable!
