It was a real treat the other day to head off to a local dressage venue with an entourage in tow! A trio of very kind friends came along for the morning to help groom, call tests, and take photos. It was the equine version of a rock star with his ‘roadies’ and Dustry took full advantage by demanding treats, barging people about, and posing for his personal ‘pap’ as they snapped away. It was good to get him out to another venue, and he was more lit up than he has been of late (but that was to be expected) and I really needed to ride him more confidently rather than ‘play it safe’. He’s got enough mileage under his belt now so that I can apply a little pressure, and ask him for better work in his warm-up and first test, the aim now is no longer just to do all the right bits in the right places! 😉 I also realised via the photographic evidence provided that I really need to work on my posture, stop looking down (bad habit from too much schooling on my own) roll my shoulders back and bend my elbows. I think my saddle is also in need of a slight re-flock at the back so that I can try to maintain a longer leg position without being tipped off balance.
So here are a small sample the ‘pap snaps’ taken by the very talented Katie Mortimore. If you like what you see you can check out more of Katie’s work on her facebook page here.
