Today I took ‘Rene’ the Renault for its first official road trip to Lambourne for a lesson with my instructor Amanda Brewer. Since I learnt to ride my mother has always towed me and my horses so today was a bit of a milestone as I got behind the wheel to drive for the first time! As it turns out it was surprisingly easy, after the initial getting used to the size and length of driving a lorry it was plain sailing, and Dustry was a total pro loading and travelled perfectly.
It’s so nice to go to my instructors for a lesson and make the most of her 60m long arena. We did some trot poles and Dustry is really getting the hang of lowering his neck, and using his back to swing over them. In the large arena we also worked on his canter which is improving so much each day and feels just great to ride, wish I could canter him all day! Sadly though being only 5yrs old all this is very tiring and there was much yawning and looking dopey afterwards.
Because GHE has a tour wagon now I thought it was only fitting that we had some ‘merch’ to go on tour with so I got some trucker hats made for me and my co-pilot! All I need now is a Yorkie bar and CB radio and I’ll be a proper trucker! 🙂
